Meditation may also be helpful in combating irritability of anger. Regular practisers of meditation and mindfulness reports reduced levels of irritability in their daily lives, for instance, reduced road rage and in problems in relationships. Individuals who are often overwhelmed by irritability or anger, often have feelings of guilt and shame. Meditation may help such individuals to eradicate such issues and not allow them to get the better of them.

Mindfulness can be helpful to identify irritable thoughts and feelings while they are at their earlier stages and help control them before they manifest into more destructive behaviours. If someone is suffering from chronic anger, regulate practising of meditation may be a great supplement to psychological treatment, as with any other mental illness.
